What Is a Multi-Zone Mini Split?

A multi-zone mini split system connects two or more indoor units to a single outdoor compressor, allowing you to heat and cool different rooms independently. Each indoor unit has its own thermostat and operates at its own set temperature — you can cool the living room to 72 while keeping the bedroom at 68, or turn off zones that aren't in use. This eliminates the one-thermostat-controls-everything limitation of traditional central HVAC and delivers personalized comfort room by room. Configuration Options

Multi-zone systems are available in 2-zone, 3-zone, 4-zone, and 5-zone configurations. Each zone can use a different indoor unit type — mix wall-mounted units, ceiling cassettes, concealed duct units, and floor-mounted units based on each room's needs. The outdoor unit is sized to handle the combined load, and inverter technology allows it to modulate output to match whatever combination of zones is actively running.
